Who we are
I’m Andrea Salazar, the founder of Chepina, an Illinois-based online shop specializing in jewelry and stone-based home decor. Chepina is more than just a business; it’s a tribute to my late mother, whose nickname inspired our name, and to my journey of growth, faith, and empowerment. She passed away from breast cancer when I was only 9 years old. Before she left us she instilled courage, faith, and authenticity in me.
What began in 2019 as Kagome’s Krystals—a leap of faith with little money and even less knowledge—has blossomed into a heartfelt mission. I started by selling homemade jewelry and small stones on Etsy, working tirelessly while juggling a full-time job. Over time, with dedication and a drive to succeed, my business grew. In 2021, I embraced entrepreneurship full-time, shipping over 10,000 orders to customers worldwide. Currently, I wear many hats, and Chepina is one of my primary sources of income alongside other endeavors.
Chepina reflects the evolution of that journey—a rebrand rooted in authenticity, style, and growth. Every piece we sell is designed to inspire you to feel, look, and grow into the best version of yourself. We celebrate boldness, simplicity, faith, glamor, and peace, blending utility and elegance in everything we offer.
As part of Chepina’s mission, we give back by donating $1 from every sale to cancer victims. Every three months, someone in need is selected to receive this donation, chosen by my followers on social media. This initiative is close to my heart, honoring my mom’s legacy and bringing hope to others.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. I’d like to end by thanking God for blessing me with this business and the ability to create every day. Without Him, none of this would be possible.
MISSION:
At Chepina, our mission is to give back by donating $1 from every sale to support women battling cancer. Starting in March 2025, every three months, someone in need will be chosen by my followers on social media to receive this donation.
This initiative is deeply personal to me. I lost my mom to cancer when I was just 9 years old. Growing up, I often ignored—or didn’t fully realize—how profoundly watching her battle and lose her fight to cancer affected me and shaped who I am today. As an adult, I’ve come to understand and make peace with the trauma she and our family experienced. My mother’s bravery, faith, strength, and love have always been my inspiration.
Her courage ignited my entrepreneurial spirit and continues to guide me every day. Through Chepina, I honor her legacy by sharing the abundance God has blessed me with over the past five years in business. No matter how big or small, together, we can make a meaningful difference for women in need.
In loving memory of….
My Mom
